When PeopleConnect's board set a clear goal of bringing its San Diego employees back to the office, the company needed far more than a new lease. Its teams were split between a corporate headquarters at Alexan Gallerie in Mission Valley and a separate customer care office on Rio San Diego Drive, and neither space could hold the 80 to 100 employees the company planned to have in the office four days a week. Carter+Co represented PeopleConnect in consolidating both teams onto a full 17,470-square-foot floor at Diamond View Tower in downtown San Diego, steps from Petco Park, growing its San Diego footprint by more than 50 percent. Just as important was getting PeopleConnect out of its existing commitments. Our team arranged a short bridge extension at the customer care office so the company could stay put until move-in, then wound that location down on schedule. For the Mission Valley headquarters, which still had years remaining on its lease, Carter+Co marketed the space and secured a sublease with a national mortgage lender, worked through a demanding landlord consent process, and timed the handoff so PeopleConnect moved out just as the new subtenant moved in, with no gap in between. The result: one modern headquarters built for a team that's back together, without paying for space the company no longer needed.
